CRX Report

The Sign Xpress ICE-RX made its debut at Dover 2 weeks ago but failed to make it past qualifying owing to a damaged block caused by the engine mount.  The engine and gearbox were removed, repairs were completed and engine reinstalled on Saturday.

The Ice-RX returned to Ironshore as a defending multi-crystal winner having scored victory last yest at this favoured location.

First run was a disaster owing to driver errors.  No grip from a very dusty and slippery track and a early run order could be blamed but it is more appropriate to blame an over aggressively heavy braking foot from the driver.  Time was posted in still unknown but was most certainly horrible.

During run #2, the gearbox mount broke entirely from the chassis in corner 2, causing a horrible wobble and vibration from the detached motor.  However, we dont stop if the car can still move.  I drove it like I stole it and still limped through the run and completed with a time of 1:36.xx
The car was immediately sent to the machine shop for emergency welding.

I requested a move down the run order hoping to make it in time for Run #3.  Repairs were completed quickly. Quick enough I thought, to still make the 3rd run.  As soon as the car was returned from the shop I was immediately called to the line.  Little did I realize that the 3rd run (2 lapper) was long completed and I was supposed to do the 3 lapper championship run.  I did 2 flying laps (1:29 by hand timing) then stopped, effectively making the only DNF in the championship run.  Wall Bash Wall Bash Wall Bash

Sucks to be the driver that messed up that bad but so it go. Really Sad Really Sad Really Sad

Thanks for the support of the well wishers.  The Ice-RX project will be back stronger.
Thanks to the small crew of mechanic Robert and crew chief Nigel.  great work and speedy repairs guys.
Thanks to the Challenger crew for quick emergency rescue and repair of the gearbox mount in quick time.
Thanks Sign Xpress for the continued support.
Thanks to Prolific Auto Glass for the support.
Thanks to Howard Engineering for the repairs.

Congrats to DT for the sound beating in class.  I have no excuses.  Good win.  Catch you next time.
Congrats to all the other winners.
Babybomb, I wish I could say sorry you werent there but looking back, I am not.  I prefer to catch you at Ironshore when I have my A-game and a car that doesnt break.

Peace.

Is that the bomb that 'done blowed up" at Dover last week?
Looks like the Bomb is more a danger to itself/themself than others!  DWL DWL DWL DWL DWL

We a bredrin still.

Someone had forgotten to read the "handle with care" labels.  It's back.  Be warned!!!  Bolt doesn't take kindly to labels not being read and there's ground to make up.
Isn't the brezze blowin' bomb in a different class? JA4 to be exact? Don't continue the trend of the previous owner with entering the car in the wrong class you know boss!
Gwaan guh tangle wid Thomas an' Alan and tek lick!

Ahhh, I see where you've gone off track.  It is the original Bomb that will be there.  Yes...the one you fear.  The natural lawnmower eating tri-star.  The breeze blowing bomb is just for Dover and only if we don't get the original Bomb back up to the power level it was at before.  Don't worry.  We'll be in the same class as you, and still be able to take on the JA4 guys.  Remember my class is 2wd. Boxing
I seemed to have missed this.
OK, sorry that you weren't able to make it.

Cry Cry Cry Well note the time folks.  We had been plagued with a problem with the car leaning out at 4,000rpm no matter what we did.  Despite the best efforts of the Autosource crew & Blaine, Chungy, Gauntlett and others we just have not been able to figure out why.  Ever since the engine swap we have encountered these issues.  Unfortunately  Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry I think it will take the car revving over 4 grand to even send notice of a threat to the Honda camp.

I had swallowed my pride and called Duct Tape earlier when the writing was on the wall to beg him a drive, but I got no answer.  Well that means no points for me this outing.  I wish you all a good day of racing.

Ice...make sure you enter this one.  Remember my boast  Boxing Boxing statement of fact.
I never saw this till last night.
I guess I was resting up for the event when the post was made.
But I don't understand it still Bomb.
Why would you want to share the mower after sending all those threats?
As it was when I asked to share your car for Sprint 1, it was with the clear understanding that I would just transit the course once to get some points, and would in no way attempt to drive competitively against you.
Were these conditions going to be reciprocated at Ironshore?
After all those threats my mind was in combat mode and I wasn't thinking friendly again at all.
I remember the last time you borrowed my championship winning Corolla at a dexterity and hit the curb trying to beat me at the NEM Dexterity finale a the National Stadium in 2006.
Couldn't take that chance with the lawnmower at all. All them can handle is grass.
Them nuh tough like de Toyota dem.

Team Mobay Racing had another dominant day in local racing at the JMMC/MBMC Taboo Energy Drink National Sprint Championship Round 3 held at the popular Ironshore sprint track on Sunday, June 7, 2009.

Douglas “Hollywood” Gore in the Team Mobay Racing/Motor Sales & Service/Slam Condoms/Sherwin Williams Paints/Wings for Life/Spinal Cord Research Foundation/Boomerang Tyre Sales/Amsoil/Mobay Freight Services Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution V set the fastest time of the day despite hitting the curb and significantly damaging his car, however his time was not registered as an official result in the event, as he had been “given a bly” by the event organizers when he had failed to take the start of the 1st run, spun out on his 2nd and then ran out of gas on his 3rd . Official fastest time of the day went to teammate Guy Fraser in the Team Mobay Racing/Guardian Asset Management Ltd. Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI, with an official time of 2 minutes 17. seconds, running in the JC2 class and evoking all kinds of “unfit for air play” responses from the gathered crowd with his awesome power slides and on the limit control. Fraser has received backing from the financial giant who are “Bullish about Investments” only recently and certainly gave a bullish performance at the event.

Guy Fraser sliding around the famous Ironshore hairpin turn.

The fastest championship qualified car was that of Junior “Flette” Barnes in the Bay Wata/West Med Pharmaceuticals Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX ( 2 min. 20.766 sec.), who won the JA8 class and had the fastest championship 3 lap time ( 3 min. 29.210 sec.) as well as the fastest championship 2 lap run.
Team Mobay Racing also fielded the fastest 2 wheel drive car at the event, the Kumho Tyres/Automotive Performance Centre Ltd/Horse P Racing Honda Civic Type R driven by Dean “Duct Tape” Corrodus, who blistered the competition to win the JA3 class, as well as finishing 2nd overall in both the 2 lap ( 2 min. 26.788 sec.) and 3 lap ( 3 min. 39.161 sec.) championship portions of the event, beating all championship 4 wheel drive, turbo-charged competitors with the exception of Barnes!

Corrodus exiting the hair pin turn.

Fellow Automotive Performance Centre Ltd driver Jordan Powell piloting the Lloyds of Montego Bay/Add-Vantage Auto Parts Toyota Corolla FX also made similar mince meat of the competition in the JA2 class, finishing top of the table and 3rd overall in both the 2 lap ( 2 min. 31.030 sec.) and 3 lap ( 3 min. 47.870 sec.) championship segments. The slippery track had him sliding through the braking zones of the course, but skillful maneuvering kept everything in check.

Powell putting a beat down on the JA2 competition.

Report sponsored by Kumho tyres, which are offered in a wide variety of sizes and applications ranging from passenger and performance cars, SUV and commercial sizes as well as racing applications and are available from the Automotive Performance Centre Ltd at 3 Cottage Rd. in Montego Bay (Ph: 940-0000) and Tyre Warehouse (Ph: 765-3511) and their dealers island wide.

With all this bad luck, i hope it stops here...
Broke the Prop shaft (the first i have ever seen for a Evo), then spun out 2nd run, then (yes again) ran out of gas 3rd run.
what a last couple weeks its been..

im sure i told you to get rid of that shaft from a year ago,,,,for more reasons than one

OK, I'll give you something to feed on so you can leave the drivers alone.

The Tropical Battery team had to get busy and swing machete when they got there after they were directed to an area that was last chopped 1 year ago to set up their display. How come? How come? How come?

How come Bay Wata could be the title sponsor this year and there was such a problem last year?
Isn't Taboo a beverage comapny just like how Ja. Beverages was last year?
How come this year there is no conflict of interest?
How come the event was unsafe last year and this year nobody nuh seh nutt'n? Where were all the concrete barriers to prevent the cars running over onto the highway if their brakes failed? I counted only 4.
How come this year the sight of uncoming race cars rushing towards the highway didn't cause anyone on the highway to swerve and crash?
How come? How come? How come?

Try to pick that apart...slowly and carefully, but mind yuh bring the sport into disrepute!
