Hi guys, I was at the track today and took some pics. Preparations are well underway. The access road has been marled and rolled and should be in condition for Sunday/Monday. The road extends now up to the west of Alfred Chen's home where additional parking has been provided. The grounds are also quite tidy.

The Barbadian Team spent the day organising their impressive pit faciilty. They are quite well prepared. I managed to take a few pics with my camera phone before the battery died.

Mark Maloney's RX-3 looks even more impressive than last year - standing still. The team was busy installing a new wiring harness. I only managed one pic of Doug Maloney's Audi. The radiator is now in the trunk, to allow for a larger (read massive) intercooler in the front. The AA evo had a similar setup. I wonder where they got that idea Ponder

Doug shared with me that his new engine is a 1700cc unit with ~640 hp and 700 NM of torque which works out to about 500ft.lb  All at a mere 2 Bar boost pressure. Don't count this car out. As I said my phone battery went dead so I was unable to get any pics of the AA Evo or the Starlet which is now in it's new home in Jamaica. Stuart Malney shared quite a bit of the techinical details of the car, and it was an interesting conversation. Both shared a very impressive build standard. The Cayman cars did not arrive whilst I was there, but I passed their trailer whilst on the way back to Kingston, and I was told that they are now at the track. Hopefully it will not rain tommorrow and the will be a good practice day.

Dover to be streamed live on the Net!!
Good news guys, after many unsuccessfull attempts, it seems as if we will be streaming the Meet on Monday Live on the net. Simply log on to the JRDC Website at jrdc.org, click on the videos link and watch. This feed is the same one spectators at the track will be seeing on the Jumbotron screen.

Automotive Art Evo tearing up Dover track right now in practice. It sounds like a modern rally car like the Focus WRCs we have here, but a bit more aggressive. Antilag poppin' and firin' as the upshifts are made. Awesome sound.

Rahtid di starlet no have no wipers!!! HELP!

DWL DWL DWL DWL DWL DWL...man come out a dover with rain tyres expecting rain and fi get the car na no wiper blade Laughing Laughing
Easy fix that man
Cut one chocho  or irish potato and rub it on the windscreen better than rain X or just buy plenty rain X

I remember back it the early days of Dover someone was running a car with no windscreen of course the back windscreen was acting like a big parachute holding the  car back... so for the next racec they removed the rear windscreen too!  Crazy Crazy

I know Toyracer wasn't  officiating then!

So couldn't wheels members get an advisory as to wen this test was being done so we could test the limitations of your system. Sloppy test Mr. Tape and I dont care how many other ppl u had test ur site  Ranting Dont mek it happen again, I dont tolerate dat sort of thing.

On a real tho it would have been nice to kno wen the testing was being done.

It was good day for racing/testing today. Clear skies with a few scattered clouds, but very suuny on track.
The AA Evo tearing up the place on what is reported to be 20" chrome rims!
So dem deh roll!!! ROFL ROFL ROFL
They were tuning the diffs today, and Stuart was seen going flat over the brow onto the front straight.
They also were testing different brake pads and chaged them at least twice that my sources could see.

The Audi hurt its engine and was shut down.
Tommy Fields was overheard to comment "one cylinder" when the car was shut down.

The Cayman guys are there and were doing some work on the EK with the K20 engine. They weren't getting any current at the plugs.

The dyno is busy right now, with a certain Team Mobay car to pay it a visit later on tonight.

Just got back from the track and here is the update:

Mark Maloney finally got his car fired up. The wiring harness was built by Andre Farbin in New Zealand and was installed in the car at Dover over the last 2 days. The new 3 rotor has 489 hp and the chassis has been lightened by 250 lbs. As I was leaving the car took to the track, but seemed to be suffering an electrical problem, and went back in.

Doug Maloney, was concerned about his engine dropping a valve as his las one did in Barbados a month ago. He went out twice for a sedate looking, but actually fast session of laps. On his second outing, his worst fears were realized when the car appeared to missfire, he shut it down and coasted to a stop. The car was towed back to the pit, and diagnosed as having damaged a valve somehow. Removal of the cam cover revealed that the titanium valve spring retainers were incompatible with the stock Audi collets. One valve slipped free and dropped slightly, but apparently did not hit a piston. Unfortunately all the other retainers show similar impending signs of imminent failure. As I left, discussion were underway as to wether or not to fly in a replacement head from Barbados. Will update tommorrow.

Stuart Maloney in the AA Evo 6. Stuart did about 20 or 30 laps today. I paid close attention to this car and it's technical details and it is indeed impressive and innovative. Forget about all the alleged figures spent on this car, it is well thought out and put together. Most of todays laps were spent mapping the active differentials and bedding in brake pads. Some adjustments were also made to the cooling system to make it more efficient. I clocked him (with the ex-Ralliart Transmission engineer in the car tuning the differentials), on old tyres on the dirty track, consistently at 1:22.5. The car looks very slowon the track and appears to be coasting in the corners. They are also running only 1.2 Bar (17Psi) Boost.

The Caymanian Type R Civic with the K20 ITB engine, was present but spent the day in the pit.

Is that roll cage in the Tony's toys civic legal? It seems to have an S bend around the dash.

It does not appear to be exactly around the dash but yes it does have a second bend .... but you have to agree its not even close to being around the dash.

I would not describe it as an "S" but it definitely has a second bend. It is not in the same league as the cage that was in Gary Gregg's Civic, which had three bends in the front leg. The scrutineers will have to handle this one.

My understanding is that if the roll cage has  has  bends in the front leg, it is OK if it's  attached to the A pillar  Unsure Unsure

Is that cage attached to the A pillar ?

No sir, it looks very similar to the Cusco/safety 21 cage that is in my car.

I doubt the scrutineers would prevent the civic from running, after all he is an international competitor. the JMMC gave Gary 3 speed events to fix his, so they should grant the cayman Civic the same No Clue
