AAtuning sponsored an E36 in the BMW club in America. They rebuilt the engine, but no forced induction b-c of class specs. Not only do they excel in forced induction, but in natural aspiration. In this video the BMW that is infront of the camera is the AAtuning car. You will see that Active's car wasnt handling too well but the straightline speed was very obvious. The video is 36mins long but all he action is in the beginning. I witnessed this race in seebring and it was quite interesting. The first race was more interesting but unfortunately there is no video for it. Active's car started 40+ (did not qualify) and finished 3rd, passed 20 cars in first lap.....Anyways this is the second race. http://www.weldoninc.com/misc/sebring_2005.wmv

and the purpose for them making this video and comparison is??? to just show how the BMW compares to that CRAZY PORSCHE but not to really say it is its competition? ENGLISH MAN! cause that is like apples and oranges there. Cause it could not be a direct comparison as in they were hoping for it to give the porsche some competition. because the drag alone displayed how slow the BMW is compared to it. I am not too hyped about the new M3. Nice car but this one just dont strike mi. I can just imagine a man with a wicked turbo kit pon a 335i apump out about 5-600WHP. Now that is a car!

Hey Hutrini I noticed you deleted your post the specs are not all that different. We all expected the Porsche to win the drag but still that was a complete . Why would they compare them anyway if it was so unfair. The new V-8 actually puts the M3 in supercar league to compete with the Aston Martins, Bentleys, a few Ferrari's and Porsche 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 Engine Type: Flat-6 Displacement cu in (cc): 220 (3598) Power bhp (kW) at RPM: 415(310) / 7600 Torque lb-ft (Nm) at RPM: 300(407) / 5500Redline at RPM: 8400 Brakes & Tires Brakes F/R: ABS, vented disc/vented disc Tires F-R: 235/35 ZR19 - 305/30 ZR19 Driveline: Rear Wheel Drive Exterior Dimensions & Weight Length × Width × Height in: 176 × 71 × 50 Weight lb (kg): 3075 (1395) Performance Acceleration 0-60 mph s: 4.1 Top Speed mph (km/h): 193 (310) Fuel Economy EPA city/highway mpg (l/100 km): 17/24 (n.a.) I think power to weight ratio got the better of the BMW that extra 500-600lbs made a huge difference
di you see how the cars came off the lien man? And my GOD the gap that was being opened after the quarter and to top it off it seems the bimmer is governed like crazy up top so the porsche is hands down way better and mor eimpressive. But I mena what can we expect for a car with the name PORSCHE and a price tag that is literally twice that of the BMW
So mi nuh feel that bad because the porsche name is one that is tied to EXOTICS so no comparison there IMO!

looking at the specs you can see how much of a no compromise the porshe engine is, less displacement but the torque figure is way up there, very impressive. this shows bmw is not targetting the hardcore race fan market, they drew the line at some civilized point. the porsche is just out of the m3 leauge. its weight is very amazing, if it can deal wid a 911 turbo mus can deal wid the m3. bmw needs a super car still , need a return of the nazca concept or something like the mclaren f1 even is the same exact engine them going to use

GT3 > M3 GT3 RS (415 hp/300 lbs-ft) Pwns ALL BMWs and we haven't mentioned the 911 turbo( 457 hp/501 lb- ft) or the 911 GT2 ( 530 hp )yet! the 911 turbo is a pure sports car, the 911 GT2 is a supercar and the 911 GT3 RS is a track ready street car! Different class of cars from the M3
The McLaren F1 is just that, A McLaren. It just happens to have a BMW powerplant.
it wouldnt be the maclaren without the engine, the heart of the mc f1 is a bmw, no other engine would be worthy porsche owns all still i dont know how nissan going to do it, but dem cant hold the gt2, maybe just the 911 turbo and yet i know it still cant manage it. my mimd is telling me the new gtr may even have trouble with the all the M cars muchless trying to shoot down the porsches.
