Seems Peter Moodie Camp may be returning to Dover soon -They seem to be regular visitors to the track these days. Guess the levels that Doug and company have raised the bar when it come to car preparation and on track performance and the genius of Marc C soon to be unleashed have reenergized them! That would be very good for the sport

Me thinks there's big money in this ere racing business. We need to get professional though and move from the fun to do on a weekend and actually start looking at this as a business. People who spend MAJOR dollars on a car are not monkeying around. Lets encourage them by attracting some big sponsors and even bigger crowds. I am sure we will start to see some real competition start then. Right now the motivation is perhaps a trophy and bragging rights. As I see it anyway. Maybe we do need more Moodies to whip us into shape.

more Moodies
whip in to shape??

Toyoman, be careful how you overlook the hard work of the record setting JRDC crew.
The JRDC actually never needed the help of any Moodie to set new records of success, so don't make it seem like there is no racing in Jamaica without them, because then Summerbell and the Motor Sales crew, P&L, Team Mobay Racing, Thompson, the Browns Town crew, all the Honda guys, Teddy Burton & the Mandeville crew, Rae and everyone else who stuck with the JRDC and made it work while those guys were absent may just be offended.

I'm in no way overlooking the work done. Heck were it not for these guys and their hard work I would have no avenue to satisfy my need for speed. My comment was not intended to offend anyone but merely to state that perhaps we are at the point were we need to shift gears to go professional. Mark_c your project while entertaining to the rest of us must be costing you quite a pretty penny. I admire your love for the sport but don't you think you should be compensated in some way. For that to happen we've got to move to the next level thats all I'm saying. By getting more people with larger investments involved it may just require us to step our game up a bit. My $0.02.

That clarifies thing a bit. My compensation for my project is to see it completed and perform at the level at which I envisaged it at it's conception. If others are entertained by it,I consider that to be gravy. As for the bigger picture the work I put in personally in the JRDC is to see circuit racing in Jamaica flourish and flourish for a long, long time. On a selfish note, if it does not flourish, I will have nowhere to race my own car. I agree with you wholeheartedly that more investment is needed for us to realise our plans. Rest assured we
are
assidiously working to that end.

Druggist I am only a noob on the track. I've been involved in racing at different levels for the last 10 years. You obviously are very selective in your interpretation of what I say. Apparently the name Moodies gives you the chills. Check the principle of what I am saying. It could be anyone else for that matter. Just imagine how much better things could be if we were to get Dover to become a tourist attraction for true race fans. Dover could actually gain a regional following, isn't the thought of that exciting. I tend to see a bigger picture in everything I do I never settle for less. I had fun the last time and I intend to be back but its not all about me is it?

toyoman you mean well but first get some facts.
When circuit racing was on its face all racers were invited to return to help build the sport. Many turned out (nuff respect to them)
but a few said “I don’t build motor sport, and some laugh and seh “drivers a guh run racing Ha Ha Ha” the club has invited every one back to race
“Start looking at this as business” toyoman how do you think the JRDC is looking at it?
“Get professionals” We had to start with volunteers until we could pay some pros
How do you think Lime came aboard?
The sport far surpassed what I used to watch and it don’t reach the vision that was perceived YET. You may not know this but Alfred had designed the complex (yes complex) for tourism. That Vision was always there. Maybe toyoman you can inject some new life into it, the time is now.
Now toyoman I want you to explain exactly what you mean by this quote
“Maybe we do need more Moodies to whip us into shape”
Include in your explanation who is “we”

MR TOYOMAN I MIGHT BE HIDING FOR SOME REASON FROM JOHN P BUT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHO YOU BE AND WHAT IS YOUR INVOLVEMENT IN DOVER / MOTORSPORT IN JA . TO SEE IF WHAT YOU ARE SAYING HAS ANY MERIT OR YOU ARE OUT OF THE MOODIE POSSY WHO WANT TO COME BACK BUT NEED MOODIE SAY YOU CAN BEFORE YUAAAALSS CAN COME IEEN . TROUTH BE TOLD JRDC BOARD MEMBERS AND OTHERS HAVE DONE A MARVELOUS JOB OVER THE YEARS AND LIFTED THE SPORT OUT OF THE TOILET FROM WHERE IT WAS AND NOW OTHER SPORTING BODIES ARE APROACHING THEM NOW FOR ALL KINDS OF STUFF . AND BY THE WAY MOODIES FOR SOME REASON DON'T ANY OTHER SPORT BUT GOKARTING
WHY IS THAT SO ,AND WHY YOU DON'T SUGGEST THAT TO JMMC THEY NEED ALL THE HELP THEY CAN GET DOVER DON'T NEED THEM TO GET PATRONS TO COME AND WATCH A SHOW THEY PUT ON . I DEAR SAY THEY WOULD ALWAYS BE WELCOMED JUST AS HOW GARY GREGG WAS . O AND HE ENJOYED HIMSELF AND WILL BE BACK MOODIE OR NO MOODIE. TEKITEASY PAL.

I know for sure that Toyoman means well and maybe what he said just didn't come out right.
He isn't a part of the Moodie posse and he will be involved in continuing the drive of bringing the sport to the corporate level, as he is very well connected in that area. Its a long time him been around and has finally started to race, so lets just help him along and he'll both enjoy himself and also contribute to the growth of the sport.

Hol on. What kind of can o worms did I open up? Bull jus so yuh know I am not out of the Moodie camp. I am a simple guy out of the Challenger camp with the starlet. Mazman let me reiterate what I said earlier. I am in no way disrespecting Dover where it is now or where it is coming from. We all have a genesis. That is not to say that we cannot grow further. Great that we have LIME, etc. Let me ask you this though. Are you satisfied with where Dover is now? Do you think that it can be more? The way I speak people want to know if I am all talk or do I have action to go with it? well lets see nuh. we all want our cars faster and faster. Same spirit is in me to see Dover better and better. Who says the WRC can't include Jamaica in its calendar. Don't let the word Moodie frighten unnu jus an example. The vision should not die, but if relax in our success it will die. I am willing to assist in developing motorsports, that said I am a rookie and there is much for me to learn. so tek time wid mi. I know a few people who can add to the mix financially and I will try to rope them in. I know we all want to see Dover or any new circuit track do well in Jamaica and internationally.

Ok toyoman so a man speak so a man thinketh. I have to deal with folk who are sencitive all the time and I got to think before I speak and I guess you would realise that some of us are very passionate about dover and all that has happened over the years seeing all the folly that has taken place coming up and moodies were there and did nothing to change it took no leader ship roll didn't organise anything etc. I would say circuit racing has much further to go in Ja. ( at which time I think moodies will return) but as MARCK C says and I agree all the constructive & possitive help and assitance is needed . Wi nuh need nuh negative vibes dung desso . toyoman possitive vibes aaaaaalllllll the way respect mi boss .

I had fun the last time and I intend to be back but its not all about me is it?
Moodies , uh ohhh you gone on a tangent yute , but anyway yuh tek it, it is up to you , but I am saying it doesn't need Moodies alone to carry the sport forward, no, fullstop!. The JRDC has been doing a wonderful job and that encouraged me back into circuit racin g as a driver because I was crew chief for Don Burgess who drives the ex- David Summerbell mivec, and he now lives in England. There wil always be room for improvement in the motorsports fraternity and it will be a collective effort ,not just a one team , it involves alll the stakeholders including thespectators too and the sponsors .

Toyoman I did say That “you can inject some new life into it, the time is now”. You also got an open invitation from MarckC.
The club is were we hoped it would be by 2008 and you see were it is going.
I wish I could offer more but at this time I buuuuussy so I urge you to get involved because new drivers, new faces, new ideas very refreshing.
The next star is on the horizon it could be you. Look ahead not behind.
Gone.
